ABSTRACT INFORMATION

PSANZ is a multidisciplinary society dedicated to improving the health and long term outcomes for mothers and their babies. We encourage research focused on mothers and babies during pregnancy and at birth as well as the health of the newborn as its development continues after birth. We receive abstracts from a broad range of scientists, clinicians and researchers.

There are three format options for presentation at the Congress;

  •  An oral presentation will receive a 15-minute time slot with the opportunity for a 10-minute presentation and 5 minutes for questions and discussion.
  •  A 5 minute oral and poster presentation (no Q&A)
  •  A poster presentation that will be on display in one of two poster and networking sessions throughout the Congress.

Poster presenters are expected to be present during these sessions to answer questions and engage with congress attendees.

There are no limits on the number of abstracts each researcher may submit. Awards may be granted to only one submission per presenting author

Submitting authors are asked to select their preference for presentation format (oral or poster).

Submitting authors must self-nominate for awards they are eligible for and would like to be considered for at the time of abstract submission. See awards information here.

All abstracts will be reviewed and scored by members of the PSANZ Academy. The top abstracts from early and mid-career researchers and practitioners in training from each discipline will be considered and up to six will be selected for presentation in ‘The Best of the Best’ plenary session.

To be considered for the 'Best of the Best' session, the presenting author must meet one of the below criteria:

  • Enrolled (full- or part-time) in a research degree (Bachelors, Honours, Masters or PhD)
  • Within 5 years of award of a Bachelor/Honours Degree
  • Within 2 years of award of a postgraduate degree (Masters or PhD)
  • A clinician (any discipline), not meeting the above, whose first involvement in research was 2021 or later.

Once submitting authors have been notified of abstract submission, they must register to attend the Congress by January 2027.

If submitting authors have not registered by this time, abstracts may be removed from the programme. This ensures that the programme can be finalised in advance of the meeting to allow Congress attendees access to the programme and to ensure there is an appropriate time for abstracts to be prepared for publication.

By submitting an abstract you are agreeing to attend the Congress in-person, or if the Conference is changed to a virtual conference, you are agreeing to upload a video presentation.

AWARD ELIGIBILITY

Presenters are required to self-nominate for all awards during the Abstract submission process, except for the Presidents New Investigator Awards, which are selected from among all other New Investigator Award (NIA) submissions.

For NIA and Early Career Research awards, presenters must include an email address for their supervisor to verify their status.

During the abstract review, reviewers might be asked to ensure the submission meets the award criteria, with the exception of verifying NIA/Early Career status.
